    Tiktok has been a source of entertainment during one of our world's hardest times. It became really popular that it has evolved from just a dancing app to a social media platform with millions of users and multiple online communities.  An online community that became popular during the pandemic is TikTok Books or #Booktok. If you were transported to Booktok during one of you visits on the app, you might have encountered a video with multiple book transitions, or maybe a book critique made by one my favorite content creators. Nevertheless, Booktok has a wide range of content and multiple book features. 

    One of the most popular genres being featured is Fantasy. From the fictional worlds to the mythical creatures, the characters and the plot  and every magic, mana, spell and ability in between, who wouldn't want to read about a book with a 17 year old wizard that needs to defeat 'You know who' or a Mortal Female that becomes a knight in the Fae world.

    So here are some of the most popular Booktok Fantasy Recommendations that you might want to know about.:

1. THE CRUEL PRINCE

    First on our list, is the No. 1 New York times best selling book, published in 2018, by Author Holly Black. The Cruel Prince has been a hit on the social media Platform, not only is it a best selling book, but it also has a 4.09 rating on the goodreads site. Not only that, but the main character, Jude Duarte is also a fan favorite, and is being cosplayed, drawn, and even has one of her lines become a viral sound on the app. The story is about Jude. She was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were taken to the Fae World, called Elfhame. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong into their world, depite being mortal. But many of the Fae despise Humans, Espescially Prince Cardan, The youngest son of the High King. To win a place at court, she must defy him and mostly all Fae--- and face the consequences. As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself. 2. SIX OF CROWS DUOLOGY

 

     Next up on the list is, a story that took place in author Leigh Bardugo's crafted Grisha Universe or 'Grishaverse. It is a fantasy novel written by American author Leigh Bardugo published by Henry Holt and Co. in 2015. The story follows a thieving crew and is primarily set in the city of Ketterdam, loosely inspired by Dutch Republic -era Amsterdam. The plot is told from third-person viewpoints of seven different characters. It is a popular book on booktok, it is absolutely hyped up as the story is worth the read. With a high rating of 4.49 on Goodreads. The story is another Fan favorite, with all the characters being Well- liked by many fans. These characters are also part of a Netflix show adapted from the same book universe, The 'Shadow and Bone Series', which premiered in 2021.

 

 

3. Serpent and Dove

 

     The next book tells the story of Lou a witch masquerading as a regular girl, on the run and trying to hide her true identity, Lou, crosses paths with witch hunter, Reid and the two find themselves in an awkward situation that pushes them into a marriage of convenience. This story was also really popular on booktok and on good reads as well with a rating of 4.03. The book itself has really good romance points. As a lot of people enjoyed the Lou X Reid love story. 

4. THE RED QUEEN

    Another book to be mentioned is, the Red Queen, by #1 New York times Bestselling Author Victoria Graveyard, is a tale of power, intrigue, and betrayal. It is a dystopian fantasy, with a different dystopian world compared to the typical fantasy world. It has an overall rating of 4.03 on Goodreads and has also been famous on booktok. The story follows Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year old red girl, from the poverty-stricken stilts. It felt like nothing will ever change. Not until she worked at in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.
